Weekly Report: 2/26/24

Prepared By: Karl Stomberg

The legislature is still on the break through February, but we wanted to highlight the People-Powered Campaign Kickoff this Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 6pm and also introduce some of the staff who help coordinate and make the party work.

Introducing The Staff

We are working to be a member-led party, and most of our major decisions from endorsements to issues we target are decided by members. However, if you are looking to get involved it can be useful to reach out to one of our staff who help coordinate the membership and build the organization. For those you haven’t met us yet, there is our Delaware staff below.

Karl, he/him, Political Director

Karl has been working for the Delaware Working Families Party since 2021 and previously worked on a variety of electoral campaigns including serving as campaign manager for Madinah Wilson-Anton, one of our original WFP champions. He is most focused on candidates and campaigns, though focuses on many of the overall aspects of the organization.

You can reach him at kstomberg@workingfamilies.org

Shyanne, she/her, Progressive Governance Director

Shyanne was hired ahead of the 2024 legislative session and previously has worked on a variety of organizing and issue campaigns covering issues from housing to environmental justice to police reform. She is most focused on legislation and government, supporting our elected officials and fighting for the issues that help working families.

You can reach her at smiller@workingfamilies.org

Hasini, he/him, Organizer

Hasini was hired at the end of 2023 and previously had organized around a variety of criminal and racial justice issues at other organizations. He is most focused on community engagement and outreach, growing our base of members and activists and making sure the multi-racial working class has the power to make change.

You can reach him at hperkins@workingfamilies.org

People Powered Issue Campaigns

If you haven’t already, make sure to sign up for our People-Powered Campaign Kickoff this Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 6pm. We’ll be talking about some of these issues and how you can get involved in solving them:

  • Protect tenants from skyrocketing rents

  • Provide all public school students with free breakfast and lunch during the school day

  • Get Delaware workers earned sick and safety days

If you can’t make it on Tuesday, make sure to sign up for our monthly issue campaign meetings going forward. The first one will be on Wednesday, March 6th at 6:30pm on Zoom.
